A complete, hygienic squatting platform for pit latrines

The SATO Flexi Pan is an all-in-one squat plate that sits directly over a pit, giving households and institutions a clean, safe and odour-free toilet without costly construction. Its wide rectangular base covers the pit opening, while raised, ribbed footrests on both sides give users a firm, non-slip grip. At the centre, SATO’s self-closing trap door seals the pit after every flush, keeping out flies and bad smells.

Key features

• Self-sealing trap door: A counterweighted flap opens under the weight of waste and water, then closes automatically to block odour and insects.
• Built-in non-slip footrests: Ribbed foot pads provide stability and safety for children and adults alike.
• Low water use: Flushes with a small jug of water, ideal where water is scarce.
• Easy to clean: A smooth, glossy surface wipes clean quickly and resists stains.
• Durable and lightweight: Strong plastic that won’t crack like cement slabs, and is easy to transport and install.

Ideal for: Rural and peri-urban homes, schools, markets, construction sites, and WASH programs.

Available in light blue. Placed over the pit opening.
